ADC post for tourism needed: Alamgir Hossain

BANDARBAN: Banglanews Editor-in-Chief Alamgir Hossain opined that creation of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) post for tourism in tourism-rich districts is needed for further development of this sector.

He made the assertion while delivering a welcome speech as the chair on the first day discussion of two-day program on the prospect of tourism in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region at Bandarban DC office conference room on Friday morning (October 21).

“The ADC (tourism) will look after the prospect of tourism and solve the problems of tourists,” the Editor-in-Chief added.

He further said that none will intend to come here in Bandarban, the most attractive tourist zone of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region, if the district administration is not tourism-friendly.

Bandarban deputy commissioner Dilip Kumar Banik attended the program as chief guest.

Dhaka University Tourism And Hospitality Management Department chairman Professor Dr Shaker Ahmed, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Civil And Environment Engineering Department Professor Zahir Bin Alam, Chittagong University Geography And Environment Science Department Professor Mohammad Mohibullah and Hiamul Islam and reptile specialist Shariar Rahman Sizar were present in the discussion.

Bandarban Upazila Parishad chairman Abdul Quddus, additional deputy commissioner (general) Didar Alam Mohammad Maksud Chowdhury, Nezarat deputy collector (NDC) Hossain Mohammad Al-Mujahid, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sujan Chowdhury, assistant commissioner of district administration Chaiti Sarbabidya and Tourist Police inspector Suhrid Chakma were also present at the event.

Private airliner US-Bangla Airlines, Eastern Bank Limited, Bandarban Hill District Administration and travel agency Pharing assisted Banglanews initiative in CHT regions.

As part of ‘Across the Country, Around the Year’ program, Banglanews arranged the discussion in Bandarban district. Earlier, these kinds of discussions were arranged in Sreemangal upazila of Moulvibazar district and Cox’s Bazar district following the ‘Tourism Year-2016’ declared by the government.
