Bangladesh recognized as fast-growing market of commodities: FBCCI President

Bangladesh has been recognized worldwide as the fastest-growing market of commodities as the country continued to achieve growth in the last 14 years, excluding the year affected by Covid-19.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), president Jasim Uddin said this today (July 15) while addressing a business conference as the keynote speaker.

The apex trade organization of the country has organized the conference titled 'Business Conference on Building Smart Bangladesh' at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the programme as the chief guest.

Jasim Uddin, in his speech, said: "There are about 5 crore youth in the country, and most of them are educated and becoming skilled in their fields. Bangladesh is the world's leading country in the export of manpower. Besides, Bangladesh is second in the world in online outsourcing. Naturally, domestic and foreign investment is increasing in this region. Above all, the business and overall development are growing fast."

He also said: "Bangladesh is now a role model for poverty alleviation and growth. We are now heading towards Smart Bangladesh. We are moving forward in every sector including agriculture, industry, and service. Smart technology is working like magic in agriculture. With the application of technology, big businessmen have started investing in this sector. Educated young men and women are also choosing agriculture as a career. A new door of employment has been opened. Bangladesh ranks among the top ten countries in the production of 22 agricultural commodities including rice, pulses and tea. All has been possible due to the agriculture-friendly policies of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

At this time, Jasim Uddin mentioned various development projects of the government.

Bangladesh's capacity has been revealed to the world due to some projects including the construction of Padma Bridge, he said, adding despite the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and natural disasters, the country's economy is moving forward.

At this time, the President of FBCCI wished for cooperation from the government for the businessmen in the coming days as well.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman attended the program as special guests.
