Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) is set to celebrate its 58th founding anniversary across the country tomorrow (July 17).

BAJUS, the country's largest and most renowned jewelry trade organization, has been at the forefront of promoting and nurturing the jewelry industry since its establishment in 1966.

The theme for this year's celebration is "Investing in Gold for the Future," a testament to the association's commitment to the growth and sustainability of the jewelry sector in Bangladesh.

In this regard, a press release signed by BAJUS Assistant General Manager (Human Resources and Administration) Md. Tanvir Ahmed was issued on Sunday (16 July).

The day-long celebrations will commence with Dhaka, the capital city, adorned in colorful decorations, showcasing the splendor and artistry of the jewelry trade.

Not only Dhaka but 62 districts and 491 upazilas across the country will also embrace the festive spirit, displaying a united front in celebrating this momentous occasion.

More than 40,000 jeweler families are going to actively participate in the anniversary events, underscoring the vital role of the jewelry industry in the nation's economy. With a rich heritage and a vibrant community of artisans, the jewelry sector has remained an integral part of Bangladeshi culture.

BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir has extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the jewelers, owners, and customers for their continued support and contributions to the growth of the industry. He has emphasized the need for further investments and the establishment of jewelry factories to propel the sector forward.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir also urged the government to provide assistance and favorable policies to create secure zones for jewelry manufacturing, particularly in the Dhaka Metropolitan area. He proposed a ten-year tax exemption for jewelers setting up new factories in these zones, with the aim of boosting production and enhancing the industry's economic contribution.

BAJUS took the opportunity to highlight that nearly 44 lakh people are directly or indirectly linked to the jewelry sector in Bangladesh. The association believes that with the right support and encouragement, the jewelry industry has the potential to thrive and significantly contribute to the country's economic growth, much like the successful garment industry.

In light of the anniversary celebrations, BAJUS has announced that all jewelry establishments in the Dhaka metropolitan area will be closed after 5 PM on July 17. The move aims to allow jewelers and industry players to fully immerse themselves in the festivities and honor the legacy of the association.

The founding anniversary of BAJUS will be celebrated as it is an occasion to appreciate the craftsmanship, tradition, and economic significance of the jewelry industry in Bangladesh. The celebrations stand as a testament to the relentless efforts of jewelers and industry stakeholders in shaping a prosperous future for the jewelry trade in the country.
