TCB starts selling onion at Tk 50 per kg 

The government started selling soybean oil, potatoes, onions, and lentils through ‘Truck sale’ at subsidized prices in the capital today (November 14).

Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh inaugurated the truck sale program in front of the TCB building in the capital's Karwan Bazaar.

He said the initiative has been taken to stabilise the commodity prices in the market.

The government is set to offer pulses at Tk 60, potatoes at Tk 30, onions at Tk 50 per kg, and soybean oil at Tk 100 per liter through TCB truck sales from tomorrow. The people having no family cards will also be able to buy the products, said the commerce secretary.

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will continue the operation five days a week, he said.

Tapan also said that TCB will sell the goods in 30 trucks to consumers in the capital.

A consumer will be able to buy a maximum of two kgs per item, he added.
