Jewellers in Bangladesh have raised the price of gold by Tk2,613 to Tk1,35,664 per bhori (11.664 grams), making a new record for the inflating price of the yellow metal in the market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk11,631 per gram, while it is Tk11,103 for 21-carat, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, MA Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,516 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk7,805 a gram.
All the new tariffs will come into effect on Wednesday, read the release.
Prices of silver have remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram, while Tk172 for 21-carat silver, Tk147 for 18-carat silver, and Tk110 for traditional silver.
