Gold price drops after three consecutive hikes

The price of gold has been reduced in the local market following three consecutive hikes. 

The price of the 22-carat gold, has been decreased by Tk 1,890 per bhori (11.664 grams), to Tk 1,40,376.

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the reduction through a press release today (Nov 25). 

The new prices will come into effect from Tuesday, according to a press release issued by Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, on Monday (November 25).

Earlier, gold prices were raised on November 20, 22, and 24, adding a total of Tk 6,757 per bhori over three hikes. 

On November 20, the price increased by Tk 2,940 per bhori, followed by Tk 1,994 on November 22 and Tk 2,823 on November 24.

As per the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 1,40,376 per bhori, marking a reduction of Tk 1,890. 

The price of 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 1,808 to Tk 1,33,996 per bhori.

Similarly, the price of 18-carat gold has been lowered by Tk 1,540, now set at Tk 1,14,855 per bhori, while traditional gold has seen a Tk 1,318 reduction, priced at Tk 94,327 per bhori.

Despite the drop in gold prices, the price of silver remains unchanged. 

The price of 22-carat silver per bhori is Tk 2,578, 21-carat silver is Tk 2,449, 18-carat silver is Tk 2,111, and traditional silver is priced at Tk 1,586.
