Janata, Al-Arafah banks get best corporate awards

DHAKA: The Institute of Cost Management of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has awarded Janata Bank Ltd and Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited with Best Corporate Award-2014.

Janata Bank was awarded in the state-owned bank category while Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited in the private commercial bank category for its contributions in Islamic Shariah-based banking.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the awards to Janata Bank CEO M Abdus Salam and Al-Arafah Islami Bank managing director M Habibur Rahman at a city hotel on January 20.

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) chairman M Khairul Hossain, ICMAB president Mohammad Selim, Best Corporate Award selection committee chairman Muzaffar Ahmed, ICMAB vice-president Arif Khan, who is also BSEC commissioner, and high-ups of bank, insurance and financial organizations of the country were also present at the award giving ceremony.
