DHAKA: The Thai government assured that they would recruit workers from Bangladesh for its fisheries and construction sectors.

Thai labor minister Surasak Kanchanarat came up with this assertion while Bangladesh ambassador Saida Muna Tasneem made a call on the minister on Thursday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh and Thailand in this regard, said a press release.

The ambassador Tasneem called on him to ask him to recruit of Bangladeshi workers.

However, currently, the Thai government is working to legalize some 16 lakh illegal workers, mostly from ASEAN countries.

After the process, the government will recruit workers from out of ASEAN countries, the release added.
