DHAKA: There are 38,516 economic units, units that generate a resource also provides some storage of that resource, in the country now.

The matter was disclosed by Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) at its auditorium at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in city Thursday after analysing the data found from the economic survey conducted by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

Statistics and Information Management Division Secretary Kaniz Fatema, BBS Director General Baitul Amin Bhuiyan and BIDS Director General Dr K A S Murshid were, among others, present here.

The report also said 37,197 units are directly connected to economic activities while 1,319 units are indirectly connected.

Earlier, BBS published information on 38,390 economic units which the BIDS verified and disclosed information on 38,516 units.
