DHAKA: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved nine projects involving Tk 5,868.52-crore.

The approval came at the ECNEC meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at the NEC Conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area at noon.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal disclosed the information while talking to reporters after the meeting.

He further said with the assistance of India, government will set up new rail tracks from Khulna to Mongla. The amended cost of the project was Tk 3,801-crore out of which India will pay Tk 2,371-crore while the rest of Tk 1,430-crore will be managed from national exchequer.

On the other hand, the committee decided to reopen the rail track from Kulaura to Shahbazpur of Moulvibazar district.

ECNEC approved Tk 678-crore for the project. The Government India will provide Tk 556-crore as loan while the Government will provide Tk 122-crore.
