DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith started placing the 44th national budget in parliament expressing his hopes in steering the economy out of the present pressures and challenges.

Earlier at noon, the cabinet approved the proposed budget of the fiscal year 2015-16 in a meeting at Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.

This will be the second budget of the incumbent Awami League-led government after it assumed power in January last year.

The size of the budget is Tk 2,95,100 crore.

With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, ministers, state ministers and secretaries attended the meeting.
