DHAKA: Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi said deals on three power plants would be signed during the visit of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
The power plants will produce about 5,000 megawatts of electricity, he added.
He was addressing a discussion titled “Approval of the historic land boundary agreement: an epoch of friendship between Bangladesh and India" at the Conference Room of the National Press Club at 10am Friday.
Gowher Rizvi said that the existing crisis in the power sector would be solved through these agreements. The deals are expected to be signed on Saturday.
Speakers at the discussion demanded signing of Teesta Water sharing agreement, resolve common rivers, incomplete deals and enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Bangladesh India Citizens Society (BICS) and the National Freedom Fighters Foundation (NFFF) jointly organized the discussion.
BICS secretary general Manoranjon Ghoshal moderated the program with organization's Executive President Zafar Iqbal Siddiqui in the chair.
Professor Chandan Sarkar, NFFF Chairman Dr SM Jahangir Alam, BOCS Vice President Mian Mujibur Rahman, Finance affairs secretary Lion Abu Bakar Siddique and others attended the meeting.
