DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday said the new pay structure for the public servants would be finalized by the next month.

‘However, the new pay scale will be made effective from July 1,’ the minister added.

Muhith was talking to journalists at his secretariat office at noon.

Earlier in the day, he held a meeting with Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA).

FBUTA delegates handed over a memo to the minister demanding separate scale for university teachers and re-fix the proposed 8th Pay Scale structure.

Muhith said he went through the reports by Bangladesh Pay and Services Commission and secretary-level committee. “Now I will discuss with the premier and cabinet members, if necessary to take final decision,” he added.

The minister also said the Pay Commission led by former Bangladesh Bank governor Faras Uddin is the latest temporary pay commission.

“A permanent pay commission will be formed,” he added.
