DHAKA: Civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon on Tuesday categorically said that the obstacles in flourishing country’s tourism will be removed soon.

Mentioning tourism an integral part of nation’s development, the minister further said that if a culture of tourism can be developed in the country, it will be able to bring foreign currency more than the readymade garment (RMG) sector.

His ministry will take initiatives without any delay to remove the structural barriers in flourishing tourism, he added.

The minister made this assertion at a workshop on ‘Buddhist heritage, culture and sustainable development of religion-based tourism’, organized by Bangladesh Tourism Board at CIRDAP auditorium in city.

He also sought cooperation from the media in upholding the reports highlighting the history and importance of the tourist spots in the country to the foreigners.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, civil aviation and tourism ministry secretary Khorshedul Alam Chowdhury and Bangladesh Tourism Board chairman Aparup Chowdhury, among others, also spoke at the workshop.
