FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hoped that it is possible to get back the US generalized system of preferences (GSP) for Bangladesh readymade garments (RMG).

The return of GSP is possible by implementing the US Action Plan for the development of Bangladesh RMG, the PM made the assertion at Jatiya Sangsad while replying to a question of ruling party lawmaker AKM Rahmatullah on Wednesday afternoon.

Expressing her grievance she further said that the US provided GSP system to 122 countries except Bangladesh.

The premier also upheld the initiatives taken by her incumbent government in implementing the US Action Plan and the progress that was highly appreciated by the US trade representatives (USTR).

According to her, most parts of the action plan have been implanted creating opportunity of withdrawal of GSP ban.
