DHAKA: Over Tk 153-crore was collected from the income tax fair across the country on Wednesday, on the first day of weeklong event.

A press release, signed by National Board of Revenue (NBR) public relations official Syed A Mumen, informed the media.

According to the release, as many as 57,047 taxpayers received service from the fairground while 14,998 taxpayers submitted their respective tax return.

However, industries minister Amir Hossain Amu inaugurated the fair on Officers’ Club premises in city this day.

The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 5:00pm till September 22.

Earlier on September 15, national income tax day was marked with elaborate programs across the country.
