DHAKA: Siddiqur Rahman will take the charge as Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president for the term of 2015-16.

A press release signed by Election Board chairman Jahangir Alamin made the disclosure on Wednesday night.

It added Siddiqur Rahman and the other members of the Board of Directors will take over the offices in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 22.

The election was scheduled to be held on September 8, but voting did not take place as rivals ‘Sammilito Parishad’ and ‘Forum’ made a consensus.

Siddiqur Rahman, Sterling Denims Ltd managing director, belongs to the Parishad. He was the vice-president of the outgoing committee.

In the new committee, numbers of the directors and vice-presidents have been increased up to 35 whereas it was 27 in the earlier committee.
