DHAKA: The maximum buying price of raw cowhide has been fixed at Tk 50-55 per square foot in Dhaka and Tk 40-45 for outside during Eid-ul-Azha.

Last year, the hide prices were set at Tk 70-75 per square foot for Dhaka and Tk 60-65 for areas outside the capital.

Hide prices of ‘khashi’ and ‘bokri’ will range between Tk 22-25 and Tk 15-17 per square foot respectively throughout the country.

Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Exporters’ Association (BFLLFEA) chairman Abu Taher made the announcement at a press conference at the organisation's Dhanmondi office in city on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) chairman Shaheen Ahmed and others related to the sector were present at the press conference.

Abu Taher also said the prices have been fixed low this eid as the price of rawhide has fallen in the international market.
