DHAKA: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Thursday approved Tk 1,128-crore for infrastructural development of Payra seaport.

The approval came from an ECNEC meeting held at NEC conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area this morning, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Under the project, 5.60 kilometers road will be constructed to connect the port with national highway and to make the port operational through its infrastructural development.

On November 19 in 2013, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid foundation stone of the country’s third seaport at Itbaria village under Kolapara upazila in Patuakhali district.
