Airtel touches 1-cr subscriber milestone

DHAKA: Telecom operator Airtel Bangladesh Limited on Saturday crossed the milestone of gaining one crore subscribers within five years of its business in the country.

Airtel managing director and also chief executive officer Prasanta Das Sarma said this is the most wanted goal for any telecom company and the achievement reflects subscribers’ confidence and trust.

He also thanked the subscribers, partners, respective government organizations and other stakeholders to keep trust on Airtel. With this, he also thanked the team members to make the dream a true by working with determination.

A press release said Airtel is the youngest telecom operator in Bangladesh and they give importance on innovating products, service and technology to give better service for young subscribers.

‘Its subscribers are dynamic and their demand and thirst for modern devices are boasting them up.’

The company is the first in the industry to introduce prize oriented new services, the release added.

According to the release, the company’s 3G networks have covered 50 percent areas of its 2G network to help build a data-based digital society.

Several 3G packages have also been introduced to serve better network, such as one paise per-minute call-rate with ultimate duration, Mobile Financial Service (MFS), Online Airtel Experience Service (OEC), Airtel Apps and Choose Your Own Number, said the release.

It further said Airtel achieved nine honorable prizes in last two years for best performance in the fields of communication and promotion.

The company has also achieved honorable international award for Mobile Financial Service and Online Airtel Experience Centre (OEC).
