DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday advised the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to fix a day to realize taxes across the country.

He came up with the advice while addressing the inaugural ceremony of three-day Winter Tax Fair 2015 at Officers’ Club in city in the morning.

Mentioning the instance of the USA, where they realize tax on April 1, minister said we need to build such a tradition by 2018.

“The time will not be extended and the day will be a public holiday,” he added.

Muhith further said income return form has been prepared easier to understand. He, however, also said the process needs to make hassle free so that people get interest in paying tax.

He also thanked the NBR for their rising rate of tax procurement in the last six years that made reaching government services to people easier.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon and NBR member (tax administration & human resources management) Abdur Razzaque spoke at the ceremony chaired by NBR chairman Nojibur Rahman.
