DHAKA: The first international flight of Novoair, the premier private airlines of the country, reached Yangon of Myanmar around 1:15pm (Bangladesh time).
Manager (marketing & sales) of the airline KM Mahfuzul Alam told banglanews that the Embraer ERJ 145 jet took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in city around 11:30am.
Myanmar ambassador to Bangladesh Myo Myint Than and several other dignitaries travelled in the maiden flight, he added.
He further said the jet will leave Myanmar around 2:15pm and land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:00pm.
Earlier in the day, civil aviation and tourism secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury inaugurated the flight of Novoair.
Civil aviation ministry, CAAB, diplomats and high officials of Novoair were present at the ceremony.
Civil aviation and tourism secretary expected that Novoair will ensure highest level of services and facilities that the airline regularly provides to the passengers in domestic routes.
He also hoped that this flight will increase communication between the people of this two neighboring country strengthening economic and cultural relationships.
‘It will also play a vital role in diplomatic relations,’ he observed.
Khorshed Alam Chowdhury also mentioned that Novoair has been maintaining 100 percent compliance and obeying all rules and regulations since its inception.
Mofizur Rahman, Managing Director of Novoair Ltd said, ‘Myanmar is an attractive place for tourists. It has natural beauty with historic land installations’.
During inauguration ceremony Novoair authority informed the media that there will be three flights operating in Dhaka-Yangon-Dhaka route in a week on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday to be operated by its aircraft Embraer ERJ145.
Moreover, the airliner is offering air ticket at minimum Tk 22,222 per person. It is also offering a travel package for the tourists for two nights and three days including visa processing and hotel booking at cost of Tk 29,522 per person on a twin share basis.
