DHAKA: Malaysia has extended until May 15 the regularization process of the foreign workers who have been overstaying there without proper documents.
Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia disseminated this information through a press release.
According to the press release, around 3-lakh Bangladeshi workers have been staying in Malaysia illegally. Malaysian government as started the process of regularization through registration from this year.
The process started from 15 February. Five private companies had been outsourced to complete this registration process.
PMF Consortium has been given the responsibility to register Bangladeshi workers.
According to the information from Labor wings of Bangladesh high commission in Malaysia, the registration process has been divided by two sectors. One is employment visa, other is tourist or social visit.
The notice further says, the workers that have gone to Malaysia under some companies and still working in the same but overstaying for more than six months without extension of work permit, they can register with that organization or other organizations with a visa for five years. This is under Category A.
Other than that, the workers who has changed organization and overstaying more than six months without extension of work permit, they can register too with their present or a new company; they would get to renew their visa for three more years.
Category B would consist with the migrants who are overstaying there with social visit or tourist visa. If they were overstaying for more than six months, they would be able to register through the company owner. The company will decide the period of visa validity.
The release also stated that those who have entered Malaysia illegally through waterway or through Indonesia or Thailand, or with student visa could also be registered.
Moreover, the workers who have registered under 6P project from June 15 to August 31, 2011, they can re-register themselves. Even if anybody has been blacklisted by any company or has overstayed with professional visa, they can register as well.
