DHAKA: Country’s third seaport at Payra in Patuakhali district will launch its operation on December 30.

Payra seaport authority secretary Rezaul Karim informed banglanews that the most parts of its infrastructural development have already been done.

He said on Monday (December 14) afternoon, “Everything is prepared and soon the seaport authority will publish a public notice”.

The agents including CnF agent, shipping agent and freight agents, who are operating in Chittagong and Mongla seaports, will collect reference license from custom and VAT commissionerate in order to operate in Payra seaport, he added.

However, Payra seaport is located on Rabanabad channel in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali.

Due to its location, the 3rd seaport will contribute greatly to country’s economic and commercial activities, Karim opined.

Earlier on November 19, 2013, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid foundation stone of this seaport at a village near Kalapara upazila.
