DHAKA: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has made an assurance of recruiting male workers from Bangladesh soon, withdrawing all kind of bars. 

The assurance came at a bilateral meeting between Visiting Bangladesh Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam B.SC and Minister of Labor Mufarrej bin Saad Al-Haqbani at Saudi Labor Ministry.

Currently the minister is in a 5-day official tour in KSA and leading a 5-member Bangladesh delegation.

During the meeting, Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Moshi was also present.

Quoting Ambassador Moshi, the Arab News reported that it was a successful discussion which paved the way for new areas of cooperation in bilateral labor matters.

“Besides more maids from Bangladesh, the Saudi minister also wants male and female academicians to work for Saudi universities,” Moshi said, pointing out that other categories of workers would be recruited by the Kingdom subsequently.

The Saudi labour minister has also mentioned again about the high demand of female workers in their country.

Al-Haqbani said, “Both the countries will work together to develop the human resource of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has a long term relationship with Saudi and this rapport will continue in future”.

The Saudi Minister has also praised about the work quality of Bangladeshi workers and has expressed his interested about taking male domestic help.

Minister Nurul Islam B.SC has urged Saudi Arabia to recruit more trained and skilled male and female workers from Bangladesh.


He said, “Nowadays Bangladesh is more capable to produce skilled and trained workers. This should be kept in consideration”.

The minister is scheduled to return home on January 4.
