DHAKA: The High Court summoned managing director of Japan-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital and director of Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) for taking money by allegedly pretending to treat a dead child.

They have been asked to appear before it on February 22 to explain about the allegation.

The HC bench of justice M Moazzem Hossain and justice M Badruzzaman gave the sue moto order on Thursday noon (February 11).

Lawyers Idrisur Rahman and Tawfiq Inam Tipu drew attention of the report regarding the matter to the court. Then, the court issued a rule and summoned the duo.

Tawfiq Inam Tipu said the court issued a rule asking authorities concerned why criminal case would not be filed against the involved and why compensation should not be given to family of the victim.

Health secretary, Health Directorate director general and people concerned asked to respond to the rule within 10 days.

On Wednesday (February 10), a mobile court fined the private hospital in city’s Dhanmondi area for pretending to treat a child even after it was dead.
