BAIRA opposes deal with Synerflux

DHAKA: Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry is set to sign a deal with controversial Malaysian manpower company Synerflux sdn bhd for sending 15 lakhs workers to Malaysia.

The Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA), however, has opposed the proposed deal.

The deal will be signed with Malaysia human resources minister Richard Riot Anak Jaem on Thursday (February 18). He is expected to reach Dhaka in Wednesday afternoon.

BAIRA alleged that Synerflux is going to start a monopoly business for importing Bangladeshis to Malaysia.

A Putrajaya source told banglanews that the Bestinet sdn fhd, which earlier had become controversial in many countries, is going to start the manpower business under the new name of Synerflux sdn fhd.

On September 21 of 2015, the foreign ministry of Malaysia sent a document to Bangladesh high commission in Kuala Lumpur where a subject named Bangladesh Workers Management System (BWMS) was mentioned.

A copy of the same document was sent to Synerflux sdn bhd.

The document mentioned that Synerflux will supervise everything including bio-medical check-up, visa processing and making passports of Bangladeshi workers. This company will also appoint and register the workers.

Currently, Bestinet is handling the work of sending back the illegal Bangladeshis in Malaysia. But they, in actuality, are doing nothing except taking excess 1,000 Ringit at immigration point. It was learnt that Bangladesh high commission in Kuala Lumpur is also helpless in this matter.

Sources from Bangladesh high commission to Malaysia told banglanews that Bestinet is now trying to influence Malaysian High Commission to Dhaka.

As a result of this, the control of labor market will go out of the hands of the Bangladeshi recruiting companies, sources added.

Putrajaya immigration sources have indicated a Bangladeshi, Aminur Rashid, who is the managing director of Bestinet.

Malaysia former home minister Tan Seri Haji Azmi Khalid and labor department former director Datuk Tengku Omar Tengku Bot are the directors of this private IT firm Bestinet.

Meanwhile, BAIRA has sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in this regard.

BAIRA president Abul Bashar told banglanews that if this is really done then the Malaysian company will control everything.

He further said that in this case the workers will have to go to Malaysia spending the money fixed by the company instead of the government-fixed rate.
