DHAKA: The country’s electronics giant ‘Walton’ is witnessing record growths in its LED television business.
It bagged about 218 percent growth in the sales of its LED TVs during the last three months (November’15 to January’16) compared to the same period (Nov’14-Jan’15) of previous year.
The growing sales and demands for Walton LED TVs are resulted in increase of production and ultimately reduction of products’ fixed overhead. Thus, the local brand again slashed the prices of its various models of LED television on Thursday.
According to Walton authorities, they set the prices of high quality 19-inch LED television at Tk 12,150 after cutting the previous price by 200. After the reduction of prices, Walton brand 24-inch, 28-inch and 32-inch LED television are now sold at Tk 15,600; Tk 21,500 and Tk 27,200 respectively.
According to Walton, sales of its LED television swelled up by 66 percent in 2015 than the previous year. At the end of last year 2015, Walton made huge investment to modernize its LED manufacturing lines with world’s latest technology and to ensure world-class quality of its produced televisions. As a result, the sales of its LED TV have been tripled in the last two months (Nov and Dec) of 2015 compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In addition, the single month growths of LED TV sales were recorded at about 40.21 and 35 percent in December and January last. The Walton authorities expected that the current growth trend will be remained in the coming months.
Mentionable, Walton is now selling out total of 71 models of CRT, LED and Android Smart televisions, of which 36 models are of LED TV and three models are of android smart televisions (43, 49 and 55-inch).
Now, Walton is offering 19-inch and 24-inch world-class LED TVs at Tk 12,350 and Tk 15,900 respectively. Besides, the customers can buy Walton brand 24 and 32-inch LED televisions at a cost of Tk 20,900 and Tk 24,500 respectively. These televisions are featured with USB port, VGA port, HDMI, YPBR, AV, internet browsing and download facility, Wi-Fi, broadband connection, playing games and watching videos and images on internet. In addition, 32-inch internet/smart LED televisions are also introduced by Walton. The quality of these televisions is international standard and the prices are also within the customer’s reach, the officials claimed.
Md Abdul Bari, head of television marketing of Walton Group, said earlier the prices of imported LED televisions were beyond the people’s purchasing limit. Consequently, the local people could not purchase LED TV, he said adding, but Walton has brought the prices of high technology based LED televisions within the purchasing limit of all classes’ people through setting up separate manufacturing lines for producing plastic cabinet, speaker, remote control, mother board, electric power cable and LED TV panel.
As the demand and sales of LED TV increased, the production cost was also come down. To give this benefit to the customer, Walton reduced the prices of some models of LED televisions, he added.
Engr. Mostafa Nahid Hossain, senior assistant director (sourcing engineering dept) of Walton Group, said they are using IPS (In-Plan Switching), ADS and HADS technology based panel in their produced LED TVs, which are resulted in giving wide viewing angles nearly 170-178-degree angles and high contrast pictures to the viewers.
In addition, the use of Dolby digital sound system, DLED and ELED backlight with dynamic backlight control, high standard mother board and motion picture in Walton LED TV are resulted in delivering incredibly vibrant colour, better sound as well as sharper images.
Mostafa said, “Walton always follows zero tolerance policy to the quality matters and thus never compromise with quality.”
