Banks reduce interest rate again

DHAKA: State-owned commercial banks have reduced the interest rate on deposit money with one month.

The banks in their respective decisions lowered the rate from 1 percent to .50 percent.

Earlier on March 3, Sonali, Janata, Agrani, Rupali, BASIC and Bangladesh Development Bank made a reduced interest rate effective.

The banks, on January 31, decreased the interest rate on deposit money from 8 percent to 7 percent.

On February 1, they also fixed the interest rate on long-term loans to 14 percent at best.

Currently, the clients of deposit accounts will get interest at highest 6.5 percent.

However, the interest for loan-money will remain unchanged.
