DHAKA: Commerce ministry senior secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun urged Bangladeshi expatriates to brand frozen fishes of Bangladesh, especially shrimp and processed shrimp, in US market.
He made the urge in a meeting with expatriate Bangladeshi leaders in US at Bangladesh Consulate General in New York on March 8.
The senior secretary also urged expatriates to step forward for branding the delicious tiger prawns (international known as Black Tiger Shrimp) in the US market.
Commerce ministry informed the matter through a press release on Friday (March 11).
During the meeting, he highlighted government priority to attract investment in Bangladesh and effort to boost export in US market.
Citing different initiatives taken by government for growth of frozen fish and shrimp industries and its farming, he said Bangladesh’s Shrimp industry has attained mentionable and visible standard.
Alongside the Bangladeshi-American business leaders, consul general M Shamim Ahsan and other officers were also present in the meeting.
