DHAKA: Retired senior secretary and also state-run Sonali Bank directorial board chairman Fazle Kabir has been made governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB).
Public administration ministry issued a circular in this regard on Wednesday afternoon (March 16).
According to the circular, Fazle Kabir has been made the central bank’s governor in a contract for four years following the article 10(5) in 1972 on Bangladesh Bank order.
Earlier on March 15, finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said that former finance secretary Fazle Kabir would be appointed as new governor of Bangladesh Bank.
He made the announcement at secretariat in city while talking to reporters on Tuesday (March 15).
Sources said Fazle Kabir, who is currently staying in Washington, will take charge as the BB governor after returning home on March 18.
