Bourses witnessing gain amid choppy trading

DHAKA: The two bourses of the country -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessing gain in share price indices in the early hours of trading on Monday (April 18), the second trading session of the week.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained over 2.78 points or 0.06 percent to stand at 4396.12 points at 12:46pm.

Trade deals stood at 59,997 with transaction at over Tk 2210.82 million. Of the issues traded, 135 advanced, 109 declined and 55 remained unchanged.

MJL Bangladesh Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 208.52 million having changed hands on the day.

Other toppers of the market were Keya Cosmetics, ACI Limited, CVO Petrochemical Refinery Limited, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited and Olympic Industries, Doreen Power Generations and Systems Limited, Aramit, BSRM Limited, The Ibn Sina and Aman Feed Limited.

Following the trend, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also gained in the early hours of trading, as CSCX, the prime index of the port city bourse, acquired over 6.16 points to stand at 8230.77 points till 12:45pm.

Of the issues traded in the port city share market, 100 gained, 82 declined and 32 remained unchanged. The total value of exchange was over Tk 140.88 million.
