Indian filmmaker Srijit Mukherji was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Friday night (April 18) after experiencing sudden chest pain and breathing difficulties.

Hospital sources confirmed that Mukherji's condition is currently stable, with further tests expected on April 19 to determine the next steps in his treatment. 

If the results come back normal, he may be discharged soon, sources added.

The acclaimed director, known for his work in films like 'Killbill Society', was set to attend a scheduled event at Srijit's hall this weekend. However, due to his health condition, his visit has been temporarily canceled.

Mukherji, who is gearing up for the upcoming film 'Laho Gauranger Naam Re' in June, was also slated to begin rehearsals for a new play. 

His sudden illness has left the industry in concern, with well-wishes pouring in from colleagues and fans alike for his swift recovery.
