Actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddiq was physically assaulted and later handed over to police in the capital’s Kakrail area on Tuesday (April 29).

A video of the incident went viral on social media this afternoon, showing several young men dragging and manhandling the actor. His clothes were visibly torn during the scuffle.

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector Jalal Uddin of Ramna Police Station told Banglanews that Siddiq was brought to the station around 4:30pm. “There is no case filed against him at our station, and he is still here,” the SI added.

In the video, one of the assailants is heard saying, “We are handing over Siddiq, a broker of Awami League, to the police.”

Police have not yet clarified the reason behind the assault or detention. Further investigation is underway.
