Taylor Swift and American football star Travis Kelce are engaged, the couple announced in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday that has since garnered more than 18 million likes.

Captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the post featured five photos showing Kelce proposing in a flower-filled woodland setting. 

In one image, Swift displays her engagement ring — a cushion-cut diamond on a gold band — reportedly purchased from Artifex Fine Jewelry.

According to Swift’s office, the proposal took place two weeks ago in a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Kelce’s father told ABC’s News 5 Cleveland.

This is the first engagement for both Swift and Kelce, who have been in a relationship for two years. Their announcement included Swift’s song So High School, believed to be inspired by Kelce, playing over the post.

Fans responded with overwhelming excitement, flooding social media with reactions ranging from emotional videos to humorous memes. The announcement also drew attention from celebrities and public figures including the Prince and Princess of Wales and former US President Donald Trump, who offered congratulations despite previously criticising Swift.
