Sultan’s ‘Unseen Splendour’ at Bengal Shilpalaya

DHAKA: A three-week exhibition titled ‘Unseen Splendour’ with the artworks by Bangladesh’s one of the major artists SM Sultan began at Bengal Shilpalaya in city’s Dhanmondi area.

Noted artist Qayyum Chowdhury inaugurated the show Saturday evening.

Cultural activist Asaduzzaman Noor MP, daily Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rhaman, art collector Rokeya Quader, Summit group chairman Muhammad Aziz Khan and art critic Mainuddin Khaled were present as special guests.

A total of eighty six artworks by Sultan from professor Abul Kasem Joardar’s personal collection are on display.

Joardar, a former teacher of Jessore’s Michel Madhusudan Dutt College, had a two-decade long friendship with the legendary artist Sultan.

The artworks of the exhibition are put on sale. According to the organisers, a part of the proceeds will go to charity.

The exhibition will remain open from 12:00pm to 8:00pm till October 11.
