DHAKA: A Shakespearean play will be produced in the dialect of Sylhet. British-Bangladeshis along with UK diasporas will perform in the play.
The UK wing of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra will arrange a two-week workshop to begin from October 24 in London in producing the play.
The play will be selected during the workshop to be conducted by Sudip Chakroborthy, assistant professor of Dhaka University’s theatre department.
Sudip, who is leaving Dhaka for United Kingdom on October 20, told banglanews24.com, ‘This workshop is to be first of its kind. It will uphold the beauty of Sylheti dialect of Bangla language’.
Sudip will also get credit in designing and directing the play, to be staged in London in 2014.
‘The play will be designed with the features of Bangladeshi traditional theatre,’ Sudip added.
Udichi UK Sangsad, Satyen School of Performing Arts in UK and British Council Bangladesh, among other organisations will also be in cooperation with the venture.
