Dengue: One dies, 383 hospitalised in 24 hours

One more person died and 383 other hospitalised of dengue in the last 24 hours across the country, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

DGHS confirmed the matter through a press release on Sunday (June 29).

The deceased was from the Rajshahi division. With this, the total number of dengue deaths in 2025 has risen to 42.

Among the new cases reported in the past 24 hours, Barishal division (outside city areas) recorded the highest number with 136 hospital admissions. Other divisions reported: 55 in Chattogram (outside city), 48 in Dhaka division (outside city), 32 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 28 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 41 in Khulna (outside city), 10 in Mymensingh (outside city), and 33 in Rajshahi (outside city).

A total of 349 dengue patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals during this period. So far this year, 8,729 dengue patients have recovered after receiving treatment.

As of June 29, a total of 9,867 people have been infected with dengue in 2025. Of them, 59 percent are male and 41 percent female.

In 2024, from January to December, the country recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths. In comparison, the year 2023 saw 321,179 hospitalisations and 1,705 deaths due to the mosquito-borne disease.

Health authorities continue to urge citizens to take preventive measures and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds to help curb the spread of dengue.
