One more dengue-related death was reported in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, while 406 new infections were recorded across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared the information in a press release on Wednesday (July 9), issued by its Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room.
According to the statement, the patient who died was a resident of Dhaka South City Corporation. So far this year, 52 people have lost their lives to dengue.
Among the new patients admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours, 98 were in Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 78 in Chattogram, 64 in areas outside Dhaka city, 53 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 36 in Dhaka North, 35 in Khulna, 31 in Rajshahi, five in Rangpur, four in Mymensingh, and two in Sylhet.
During the same period, 439 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. Since January, a total of 12,225 people have recovered from dengue.
The DGHS reported that as of 9 July, the overall number of dengue cases in 2025 has reached 13,594. Of these, 59.2 percent were male and 40.8 percent female.
In comparison, Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths in 2024. In 2023, the country experienced the worst outbreak on record, with 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths.
Health authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease.
