Dengue: 3 more die, 409 Hospitalised in 24-hour

Three more people have died from dengue across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, while 409 new patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period, according Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

DGHS issued a press release issued in this regard on Sunday (July 27).

According to DGHS report 74 patients were admitted outside Barishal City Corporation, 72 outside Chattogram City Corporation, 67 outside Dhaka Division (excluding the city areas), 32 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 54 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 28 outside Khulna City Corporation, 11 in Mymensingh Division, 51 outside Rajshahi City Corporation, 16 in Rangpur Division, and four in Sylhet Division.

In the last 24 hours, 530 dengue patients were released from hospitals. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 18,223 people have recovered after hospital treatment.

As of July 27, a total of 19,529 people have been diagnosed with dengue in 2024. Of them, 58.6% are male and 41.4% female.

With the latest three deaths—one each from Rajshahi Division, Dhaka North City Corporation, and Dhaka South City Corporation—the dengue death toll this year has risen to 76.

Between January 1 and December 31, 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue cases and 575 dengue-related deaths have been recorded.

By comparison, 2023 saw 321,179 hospitalisations and 1,705 dengue-related deaths—the highest ever recorded in the country’s history.
