Three more people died from dengue in the last 24 hours while 428 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A press release issued by DGHS confirmed the matter on Wednesday (August 6).
Of the hospitalised patients, 104 were from areas outside Barishal City Corporation, 39 from outside Chattogram City Corporation, 74 from outside Dhaka City Corporation, 51 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 62 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 30 from outside Khulna City Corporation, 14 from outside Mymensingh City Corporation, 50 from outside Rajshahi City Corporation, and four from outside Rangpur City Corporation.
During the same 24-hour period, 409 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. So far this year, a total of 21,461 dengue patients have recovered and been released from hospitals.
From January 1 this year, 22,812 dengue cases have been recorded. Of them, 58.7 percent are male and 41.3 percent female.
With the three latest deaths, the total number of dengue-related fatalities this year now stands at 92. The deceased include one each from Chattogram division, Rajshahi division, and Dhaka South City Corporation.
In 2024, between 1 January and 31 December, a total of 101,214 dengue cases were reported, with 575 deaths.
In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives and led to hospitalisation of 321,179 patients across the country.
