Bangladesh’s dengue death toll for 2025 has risen to 101 after three more fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the same period, 448 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, the DGHS Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room said in a press release on Sunday (Aug 10).
Of the new admissions, 95 were reported in Barishal Division (excluding the city corporation area), 81 in Chattogram Division (outside the city corporation), 84 in Dhaka Division (excluding the city corporation area), 34 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 48 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 57 in Khulna Division (outside the city corporation), eight in Mymensingh Division (outside the city corporation), 34 in Rajshahi Division (outside the city corporation), seven in Rangpur Division (outside the city corporation), and two in Sylhet Division (outside the city corporation).
In the past 24 hours, 404 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. Since January, 22,708 dengue patients have been released after treatment.
From 1 January to 10 August 2025, Bangladesh has recorded 24,183 dengue cases, with 58.7% of patients being male and 41.3% female. The latest fatalities include one in Chattogram Division and two in Dhaka South City Corporation.
For comparison, in 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths were recorded, while in 2023, the country saw a record 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations from the mosquito-borne disease.
