FROM KUALA LUMPUR: Through social business Malaysia is now initiating mission to change the world. Arranging fifth Global Social Business Summit (GSBS), Malaysia, also known as Asian tiger, wants to change the format of social business.
The social business which was started by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus will now be spread to Malaysia.
Malaysian Prime Minister Nazib Razak is playing an active role to spread the format of business to elsewhere of his country. The premier will declare the roadmap regarding the matter.
Around 600 persons including social entrepreneurs, teachers, lawyers, Students, Journalists and people from other sectors are visiting the country to attend the 3-day long summit to be started on Thursday.
Eminent jurist Dr Shahdeen Malik, Dr Asif Nazrul, business and entrepreneur Rokeya Afzal and various section of people from Bangladesh have already arrived in Kuala Lumpur to join the summit.
The theme of the summit of this year is ‘Social business to change the world.’ But the huge arrange seemed they want to change the world with their success in this sector.
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Professor Muhammad Yunus, will deliver the keynote speech at the opening session of the Summit while welcome address will be delivered by NufarinigDaing, CEO Youth Trust Foundation Myharapan and Hans Reitz, Head of Global Social Business Summit.
Over the past years, Professor Muhammad Yunus has taken the experience and expertise gained from the success of Grameen Bank, to introduce a new business model – Social Business.
A social business is a non-dividend company created to solve a social problem. Like an NGO, it has a social mission and like a firm it generates its own revenues to cover costs. Investors may recoup their investment. All profits are reinvested for growth and innovation, or to seed new social business ventures.
The Global Social Business Summit is the worldwide leading forum for social business to spread awareness of social business and to foster discussions and collaborations for new social business ventures.
