DHAKA: At least two security personnel were killed and five others wounded on Sunday in a bomb attack on a convoy in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal areas.

The attack came in the Mir Ali area of Miranshah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal region, a hub of Taliban and Al-Qaeda linked militants on the Afghan border.

‘Two security officials were killed and five others wounded in the explosion caused by a planted bomb,’ a security official told media, adding that a large military convoy was later due to pass by the area.

Militants threw the dead body of a kidnapped police official on the road in the same area earlier in the day.

The official had been kidnapped from Bannu district a few days ago, reports The Straits Times.
