Karzai orders review of anti-graft bodies: official

KABUL: Afghan President Hamid Karzai has ordered a hand-picked team to review two Western-backed anti-corruption bodies, the country`s attorney general said Thursday.

"A presidential decree was issued so that all aspects of their formation, framework, working procedures must be reviewed by a delegation and report back," Mohammad Ishaq Alko told reporters.

He said the move followed "complaints from here and there, as well as from our compatriots in jail".

The review concerns the Major Crimes Task Force and Sensitive Investigations Office and Alko said it was likely to lead to tighter regulation of the bodies` activities.
