Mother Teresa`s death aniversary this Sunday

Calcutta: This Sunday is the 13th death anniversary of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, more popularly known as Mother Teresa, considered “the most admired person of the 20th century.”

Thousands of pilgrims and devotees are expected to gather at the Mother House of the Missionaries of Charity, which she founded in 1950, in Calcutta, India, where she was buried. Special masses in her honor will be offered by the Missionaries of Charity nuns, brothers, and lay volunteers in more than 123 countries all over the world, including the Philippines.

In Washington D.C. in the United States, she will officially be honored with a postal stamp in ceremonies at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Last Aug. 26, the Archdiocese of Manila celebrated her 100th birth anniversary with a special mass at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila. The mass, led by the sisters of the Missionaries of Charity, was celebrated by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales.
