DHAKA: Iranian president Hassan Rohani on Thursday called on Israel to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) ‘without delay’ for a ‘nuclear-free zone in the Middle East’.
Speaking at the UN General Assembly, the Iranian president called for a ‘total elimination’ of nuclear arms and all weapons of mass destruction in the region, reports The Jerusalem Post.
Rohani asserted that ‘any use of nuclear weapons is a violation against humanity, stating that ‘the world has waited too long for nuclear disarmament’.
