DHAKA: The Egyptian army launched a military campaign on Thursday targeting strongholds of armed groups in the Sinai Peninsula south of Rafah.
Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported, says The Jerusalem Post.
Ma’an quotes witnesses as saying Egyptian helicopters struck targets in the border village Nag Shabana, where they suspect weapons might be held, while ground forces launched raids on several houses in search of suspects.
Egyptian military sources are quoted as saying two suspected members of the Muslim Brotherhood were detained in the city of Bir al-Abed.
They are suspected of raiding and stealing weapons from the Bir al-Abed Police station.
