DHAKA: A young Saudi couple divorced after the husband and wife argued over the name of their first baby.
The couple, married for two years, could not agree what to name their newborn daughter with the husband insisting on naming her after his mother and the wife arguing that she should carry the name of her mother.
After the husband was able to register his daughter’s name officially, the wife became so upset that the ensuing argument between them degenerated into a decision to divorce, local Arabic daily Okaz reported on Thursday, says gulfnews.com.
Attempts by relatives to reconcile the spouses failed after the wife refused to be reunited with her husband unless he accepted to change their daughter’s name.
However, the husband was adamant that the daughter keep his mother’s name.
