DHAKA: Three suspected militants have been killed in a US drone strike in Miramshah Bazaar of North Waziristan Agency in Pakistan on Wednesday night.
Sources said that three people were also injured and that the number of casualties is likely to increase.
This is the first drone strike following Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif`s visit to the United States and his meeting with President Barack Obama.
Official intelligence sources said that the drone fired two missiles on a compound in Zafar Town area near Miramshah Bazaar, the agency headquarters of the the North Waziristan Agency.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit to the US last week called upon President Barack Obama to end drone strikes but the US has reportedly made no commitment to end the unmanned drone operation.
US drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen increased dramatically after Obama took office in 2009, and the pilotless aerial vehicles became a key part of the fight against Al Qaeda. More recently the number of strikes has lowered.
